Kroger Attendance Update 09/29

Dear Local 700 Members:

Kroger informed Local 700 that it will implement its new attendance policy on October 18, 2026, over the Union’s objections. The Union has made clear that the policy conflicts with protections in our collective bargaining agreements and that Kroger cannot use the policy to take away rights our members have negotiated and earned.

Kroger has decided to remove all attendance points issued before October 18 so that employees will have zero points when the policy begins. However, that decision does not resolve the Union’s objections or limit our ability to challenge the policy and its application.

Local 700, together with other affected UFCW Locals, has filed grievances challenging the policy. We will continue pursuing those grievances to protect our members. If you receive an attendance point under the new policy for an absence or occurrence that would not have resulted in an attendance point under the current policy, contact your Union Representative or Steward to file a grievance.

Local 700 will continue to challenge the new attendance policy where and when appropriate. Please remain in communication with your Union Steward and Union Representative as these grievances proceed through the contractual process. We will keep you informed of significant developments and any additional steps you may need to take.

In solidarity,

Tracy Bartak

President, UFCW 700
