Scholarship Applications Open for Spring 2026

UFCW Local 700 proudly awards $22,000 per year in scholarships to members or dependents. Applications for Spring 2026 Scholarships are open NOW. 

Applicants must be UFCW Local 700 members in good standing, or their legal dependents; have graduated or will graduate from high school or are currently enrolled in college or trade school; must have completed the SAT or ACT; and must be accepted to an accredited institution OR met the requirements and enrolled in a two-year community college, technical, or trade school.

Twice a year, we award $11,000 in scholarships: Five at $1,000 each and twelve at $500 each.

Essay Prompt:

United Food and Commercial Workers Union Local 700 puts dinner on the table for Hoosier families with nearly 14,000 members in supermarkets and food packing, processing, and manufacturing plants. What are some skills learned or challenges encountered as a Local 700 member (or household member) and how can you apply these in your education and/or future career?

The essay should be 5 – 7 pages for 4 year applicants and 3 – 5 pages for 2 year applications. Essays should be submitted in a Times-style font, 12-point typeface, double spaced, with one-inch margins. A bibliography of references should be attached; the bibliography does not count towards page requirement. Do not include your name anywhere on the essay. Attach the essay to the end of your completed application packet.

Plagiarizing or otherwise presenting another person’s work as your own is unacceptable and will result in disqualification from the scholarship competition.
