Dear UFCW Local 700 Members,
Your bargaining committee met with Kroger yesterday and today to continue negotiations toward a fair contract.
Kroger made meaningful movement on wages—progress that reflects the pressure created by your solidarity. However, the Company still needs to go further in order for your Negotiating Committee to consider recommending any agreement to the membership. Wage increases must do more to meet the real needs of our members across all classifications.
We are pleased to report that the Committee has tentatively secured joint labor management language similar to what some of our sister UFCW locals have won on the west coast. This would establish a process for addressing persistent issues like staffing and store operations.
The parties will return to the bargaining table on July 7th and 8th. We remain committed to fighting for the contract you deserve.
Thank you for your continued strength, patience and solidarity.
In solidarity,
Tracy Bartak
President, UFCW Local 700
